Sawyer was a member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club (NHYC) and for a time served as the Club's
official photographer.
The collection has approximately 24,000 images taken in and around Newport Harbor, including jetty
construction, dredging,
sailboat and speedboat races, NHYC facilities, officials and events, the Tournament of Lights, beach scenes,
and the
Balboa Yacht Club. The collection includes a large number of images of yachts ported in Newport Harbor.
